- Flashlight vs. Magnifying Glass vs. Otherworldly Compass in the Hand slots — raw mechanics favor Magnifying Glass (cheap, actionless, stacks with combo pieces); Flashlight's edge is the guaranteed floor on low-shroud locations; Compass is weaker than both but is Relic-traited (Whitton search target). Revisit once the relic package (Obol, Manuscripts) is in.

Sequencing notes:
- Obol first — cheap, and its Permanent status means everything downstream (Whitton's bonus) benefits immediately.
- When the untranslated Glyphs auto-discards (3rd secret), you get a Forced 5 resources — enough to field Dr. Milan Christopher (cost 4) outright, or most of the way to Pathfinder/Guiding Stones.
- MAF over Charisma: 1 XP more, but unlocks a 3rd ally slot instead of a 2nd — worth it specifically because Jake (Wayfarer) doesn't compete for the Miskatonic-only slots that Milan and Whitton need.

- Whitton Greene: "+1 [stat] while you control a Tome or Relic asset" is conditional, not automatic — Charon's Obol (Permanent, in play from the start) guarantees it.
- Archaic Glyphs (untranslated): Forced ability discards it and grants exactly 5 resources the moment the 3rd secret lands — automatic, not optional.
