This is a solo Dark Horse deck I've been enjoying. Yes the Forbidden Knowledge is a little odd, but sometimes you just need an extra resource, you know? Also, early in a scenario, it can be annoying having a hand of Desperate cards but too much sanity left to play them, so maybe you wouldn't mind taking that second horror for the resource? I've used St. Hubert's Key before in this sort of deck, but once Dark Horse is already down it's too expensive for my tastes.
I like upgrading the Newspapers, and adding True Survivor. The other experience goes to Exile cards, A Test of Will, Stroke of Luck, and Devil's Luck are all great here. I tend to swap them for Look What I Found and Last Chance.
Inspiring Presence is always good, sometimes great, occasionally life-saving.
I've considered the Improvised cards, since so many cards get discarded when playing as Ashcan, but I never feel like there's room for them. Let me know if you've tried them?

I think Winging It could find a place here. obviously you want a way to boost with it because your base skill is only 2, and Newspaper would fill that role. I'd probably drop the Not Without a Fights for them.
