A Gravedigger, a Lantern and a Shovel
The Lantern (shining a light on this deck)
Return to the Path to Carcosa is around the corner and our buddy William just got new exciting cards so let's get deep into the matter and build a thematic deck for him (a.k.a "Daisy"-style deck). This deck should be fine for solo or taking a flex slot in a multiplayer party.
The Shovel (the tools you have)
Your main weapon is the Meat Cleaver so you want to see it in your opening hand. This, with the Grisly Totem are the only asset you want to keep around. All other assets (and this is were the fun is) should flow between your board, your hand and your discard :
- commit them for icons
- discard them for their effect
- use them for soak
- play them from discard
Try to have a "healthy" discard pile with lots of assets with different costs so you always have something to play when Yorick's triggers.
The Gravedigger (digging into upgrades)
Go on with the theme and upgrade what's there :
Upgrades to the lantern and the shovel are really good in Yorick : they double their icons (toss it for combat or investigation), reduce their costs (easier to play and bounce back from discard) and can be removed from the game to double their effect. The upgraded totem and mash also have reduced costs which will help with your economy.
Prioritize depending on your campaign and what's coming next.
Lantern gives you the more value for your hardly earned XP. Indeed, a test-less 1 damage is not as useful for Yorick with his 4 as it is for other investigators. But 2 guaranteed damage is good action compression and you shouldn't afraid to remove it from the game.
After you upgraded those tools, you can pick up Eucatastrophe (replacing Lucky!). I also like Plucky in Yorick because it boosts what he needs, provide some horror soak and is an easy target for his .
