Yesterday I posted what I think might be the best lvl. 0 deck I've ever seen, but today I'm here to show you just how crazy good George might be. So good that I'm thankful Scavenging got Tabooed, otherwise leveling this deck up would feel almost pointless.
Imagine the following. It's your turn, you have a sweet Nautical Charts in hand, your trusty Scavenging in play, let's say a Contemplative under George and another two cards in hand, let's not go too crazy on this. Ok, so, you discard Nautical, investigate with 5 base, invest Brick-For-Clues. Let's say you succeed by 2 or more, ok? You Discard whatever you have in hand, trigger your ability, draw a sweet new card, get 3 clues, return Nautical to hand. That's 3 clues and a card for an action, and we haven't even started to use our resources.
All the deck is geared towards two things: efficiency and consistency. You have ways to get your stats up, ways to keep investigating for 2+ clues an action (Sharp Vision, Winging It, Nautical Charts, Deduction, Contemplative), ways to recycle most of your resources. Oh, and you're also great at dealing with enemies. How? Hand Hook, Improvised Weapon, Brute Force, Long Shot and, most crucially, the deck's all star: Occult Lexicon.
Yeah, Occult Lexicon slaps in George. Why? Because it: triggers discard, gets you econ or deals damage, gets you something to throw at Unconventional Method and Act of Desperation in order to get even more clues or deal even more damage. And when you're done with Unconventional, if you have a Scavenging, you can just fish the book back to hand and play Blood Pact all over again. Sweet, isn't it?
Forced Learning is what makes the deck run like an oiled engine, drawing you two cards per turn and guaranteeing a discard trig each upkeep. Cornered and Idol of Xanatos serve a similar purpose for the Mythos/Enemy phase. Gift of Nodens is just pure value.
I capped myself at 20xp, but you could go crazy after this with Permanents like Scrapper and Dark Horse or get even more value with Improvised Weapon and the like. I almost hope they will never do the same thing for Winging It, for it would be absurd in this deck.
I've talked to much already. Go play George, have fun, be the best flex the game has ever seen, outclass your friends.
Welcome to the Discardome, people.
