This is the deck I used to complete all of the standalones solo (mostly successfully) and a deck similar to the one I took solo through The Scarlet keys.
There are 2 core strategies:
-
Playing blesses to succeed at tests. Yes, that's right Blessed Blade is so powerful in solo that you can very likely get all 10 blesses into the bag. It alone enables bless strategy by also keeping blesses in the bag during fight attacks.
-
Using a party of allies to soak damage and horror and help with their abilities. The coolest ally here is Girish Kadakia. He is 100% worth 4XP and you should try to get him asap or later use Calling in Favors to swap other allies for Girish.
The other cards in the deck help the deck run smoother by card draw, resource generation and skill boosts.
In this deck I used alt sigs because I think Mysteries Remain and The Dirge of Reason are generally better for Roland (especially during a campaign). But in standalones you can run the origional sigs and not care about Cover Up.
Standalones:
- successfully completed: Curse of Rougarou, Carnevale of Horrors, Murder at the Excelsior Hotel, Labirinths of Lunacy (all 3 versions!), The Blob that Ate Everything (original), The Midwinter Gala.
- unsuccessfully completed: Guardians of the Abyss (both scenarios), Machinations of Time, War of the Outer Gods, Fortune and Folly.
Scarlet Keys Campaign: Riddles and Rain (W), Dealings in the Drak (L), Shades of Suffering (W), Sanguine Shadows (W, no part 2), On Thin Ice (W), Dancing Mad (W), Dogs of War (W), Congress of the Keys (W).
It is quite easy to downgrade the deck for campaign play:
2x Blessed Blade - > 2x Machete
1x Girish Kadakia -> 1x Alice Luxley
Don't remove Charisma. Take In the Thick of It.
