Starting a run of Arkham Horror tCG with a couple of friends, from Night of the Zealot, through Dunwich Legacy to The Path to Carcosa and beyond(?). This deck is one of three starting decks built from 2x Core Sets. Each intended to shine in their particular way, and hopefully cover each other's blind spots with regard to game mechanics.
Deck 3: Skids O-Toole, the Ex-con Reconnoiteur Extraordinaire
Modus operandi: Case the joint. Stick and move.
Skids O'Toole is built to go Rogue (puns hurt The Old Ones. Known fact. Ask Daisy). While not the warrior Roland is, nor the investigator Daisy is, Skids can outwork them. Given his native Investigator ability and Leo De Luca giving him a floor to ceiling action window; Skids can reliably churn out clues or damage as needed. He can also choose his battles. Something the others cannot. This makes him good at scouting the scenario map for the opportune place and time to put in those extra actions. Should he run into something he can't handle, he can potentially Elusive out and apply Dynamite Blast until fixed.
Playing the deck:
Mulligan for Leo De Luca, Hard Knocks, any Hand Assets and Guts
Maintain a decent Resource pool so that you can always play the Events you have in hand. If there is no low-shroud location for Skids to pitch in with the investigation, he should explore to find such a place or draw into his deck to build himself up. If a location is about to be depleted of clues or enemies, it's probably time for Skids to move on.
Problems:
Skids has trouble passing willpower tests. Hence the mulligan for Guts. Drawing the signature weakness, Hospital Debts, late is disastrous! In the late-game; have Daisy read from the Old Book of Lore to make sure you don't draw that thing when it's too late to deal with it. Get your draws in early.
P.S. I originally went for Wendy Adams as the third deck. She had the entire card pool for Survivors and Rogues to pick from, whereas Skids has more than half of his card pool taken by Roland. However, Wendy is just not good at the things you need to get done in the game. She's excellent at surviving, but not at contributing.
Skid's companions:
Deck 1: Roland Banks, Miskatonic Bladerunner
Deck 2: Daisy Walker, Sorceress Supreme
