My aim in publishing this is to attract critique--it's intended as a companion to a Zoey deck. As such, I've tried to emphasize Joe's investigative skills while retaining his combat abilities... it shares cards with Zoey--like Machete, Take the Initiative, Vicious Blow, and Scene of the Crime, but has lots of ways to get clues with testless hunches or souped-up skill checks. I fear that between Zoey and Joe our team will suffer with agility challenges and evasion. This deck also has an economy problem, as it has very few ways to make money outside of the already-costly Milan Christopher and the odd Emergency Cache.
Shortcut is also in the maindeck, not in the Hunch deck...I'm not sure how to change that.
Let me know what you think!

Feb 22, 2019Thank you so much for the guidance! You're totally right about Inquiring Mind--even as a 1-of I had times I'd struggle to play it in a Minh deck. I was planning on Forgotten Age, so I'll see about adding Handcuffs, and at least 1 copy of Logical Reasoning. I should post the Zoey companion deck as well--it's running Rite of Seeking and Scene of the Crime, but not Evidence or Flashlight. I'll also consider Ever Vigilant, Stand Together, and Kerosene once we have some XP under our belts! |
Because you have Zoey, who will be spending very little time on Clues, you should get a lot of mileage out of Dr. Milan Christopher, which will hopefully solve any money woes you have. You're also very skill-intensive, which is smart - they are free to play!
If you're concerned about evasion, you might consider Handcuffs or Hyperawareness. Which campaign are you playing with this deck? I'd recommend Handcuffs for Forgotten Age for sure.
Your team has a combined Health of 17 but a Sanity of 12, so I would look into horror heals as you level up like First Aid or Kerosene. At level 0, you have access to Logical Reasoning, which is very good.
I personally find Inquiring Mind to be kinda situational. It's very easy to pick up 2 clues at a time with Fingerprint Kit and Deduction, which will be about 70% of the locations you run into. You could take them out, or they might be the first thing you cut for something like Ever Vigilant.
Honestly this deck seems solid and I think most of what you have to worry about is your team not having enough to do when Enemies aren't there. Zoey should definitely consider Scene of the Crime, Flashlight, and maybe Evidence!. You could look into horror heal or other support cards like Logical Reasoning, Stand Together, and Kerosene.
