Strategy
Get Drawing Thin, Tooth of Eztli (and eventually Grisly Totem), and Analytical Mind as a priority to fuel card draw engine.
Baseline will be high due to Magnifying Glass and eventually Death • XIII for reliable clues from 1-3 shroud locations. Deduction and Winging It aid in getting 4+ shroud locations.
Maybe swap out 1x Perception for Fire Axe just to have some fighting options before upgrading to Cornered?
When identifying the Ancient Stone, start with a 4+ shroud location, boost to 8 or 9 with Drawing Thin, which becomes 11+ with the 3+ shroud from the Stone. Try to find The King in Yellow to clear at the same time. This allows the most charges on the Ancient Stone (damage).
Track Shoes lets you move to a location and do an test to move again before enemies engage, meaning Drawing Thin, Mr. "Rook", and Analytical Mind can trigger the Stones to snipe an enemy with no risk of damage.
Mulligan priority
This deck is built around clue gathering and the ability to draw more cards. To that end, aggressively mulligan for:
After the first few upgrades, also try for
- Death • XIII
- Ancient Stone (damage)
Upgrade path
- "I've got a plan!" -> Ancient Stone (unidentified) 1 XP
- 2x Tooth of Eztli -> Grisly Totem 6 XP
- True Understanding -> Death • XIII 3 XP
After "identifying the stone" - try to find a 4 or 5 shroud to do this on, then use Drawing Thin to boost to 8 or 9
- Ancient Stone (unidentified) -> Ancient Stone (damage) 4 XP
- Perception -> Cornered
Higher Education is probably worth buying as well.
