This is one of a set of decks designed to create a demonstration set to let new players try the game out. The intention is to give new players a meaningful choice between chars by making each play a little different to the others without overly nerfing them to the point of not being fun. This does mean some decks are stronger than others but no one has so far has cared.
The other decks can be found here: [This section under construction - I will edit these as I publish each deck but bare with me it might take a few days do to the write ups]
Roland: Firearm based combatant with passive clue acquisition.
Zoey: Heavy duty melee damage purist.
Skids: Combat rogue with high evasion and burst damage options.
Jenny: Cash driven multi action generalist
Daisy: Clue hunter/caster hybrid with additional support functionality.
Rex: Ellusive heavy duty clue hunter
Wendy: Stealth rogue, event driven reactive deck
Ashcan: Draw heavy flexible damage dealer and clue hunter hybrid
If you don’t mind proxying or some substitutions, the only restriction between using some of these together is in the unique allies though I have tried to minimise overlap by only allowing them to be in pairings I would not expect to be picked together very often (Milan in both seekers, Leo in both rogues etc).
Disclaimer: Where possible I have tried to test these decks, though some have had more testing than others and one or two are as yet untested. I have added a second disclaimer at the bottom where this is the case. As I get the chance to try them out I may well update them a bit. I certainly welcome feedback if anyone does try them out or has suggestions.
PLAYING AS AGNES: Witch this, it`ll be funny

Passive aggression Agnes’s innate ability is arguably one of the strongest in the game giving you the ability to pump out skill test independent damage on tap. Painkillers and Forbidden Knowledge, are well established ways of choosing when this happens. Between Fire Axe and Shrivelling, you have 4 cards to give you re-usable bonus damage (note that Forbidden Knowledge can be used to refresh between swings). Fearless and Peter Sylvestre and the occasion hit to Holy Rosary let you manage the horror you do end up taking letting you choose your battles.
She know evil, fear no evil! Encounter deck (typically or tests) mitigation comes from Ward of Protection, high base , Manual Dexterity, Peter Sylvestre (taking you to a respectable 4), and Unexpected Courage
Books are for chumps. "Look what I found!", Drawn to the Flame both give you means to gain double clues semi-passively. Rite of Seeking lets you leverage your will to do it with high odds when needed but outside of these two, though it is a little pricy.
Upgrading: Peter Sylvestre v2 gives you a bonus to WILL that stacks with Holy Rosary, and can take you to a much more consistent 4 cards in the deck that get you up to 6 base will. Those hand slots have been kept free for a reason, or arguably 2 reasons – Grotesque Statue and Book of Shadows. After all that Lucky! v2 and Blinding Light v2 are not bad options.

May 29, 2017Hi I have a Dark Horse agnes build that ive been trying its here if your interested, but i dont think its as strong as this version. The rig is too big and its hard to find all the components reliably but it is fun those times you can get it all set up though. One thing I would say about this deck (good stuff no waiting - not Dark Ass) is that it can be a bit cash poor if you decide to play Rite of Seeking. I find I often have to decide between that and Shrivelling depending on the party/board state. One option would be to swap one copy of it for another Blinding Light, another would be a second Painkillers. This pushes you towards a more aggressive build though. Im inclined to lean towards blinding light simply to get the asset density down. Im finding a good rule of thumb for a lot of decks is to try to aim for 10 assets max (unless your doing specific asset shenanigans like icon/duke recursion via Scavenging). This is because you can spend far to many actions in a game setting up otherwise. That said i find it hard keep them down in Mystic due the need for spells etc. |
May 29, 2017Actually I suppose the upgrade options have changed a little havent they. For the most part agnes can get away without the bonus in the new Shrivelling and Rite of Seeking, but i have another take on it that i should warn you i'm yet to test out. If you were to upgrade to these you might be happy to drop the Holy Rosarys to free up slots for things like Grotesque Statue/Book of Shadows or the upcoming Jewel of Aureolus - the latter of which incidentally might relieve the cashflow issue a bit. |
Hi @StartWithTheName, Your guides have been very helpful and I am curious, did you make any changes to your Agnes deck?
