Provisions! Honestly, these are the first Ursula ate over the course of the campaign, so let's enjoy the taste! We've got Rope to boot and less than 10 vengeance, so we're definitely well prepared for the incoming scenario. Anyway, in terms of the deck, I regret I didn't went for the Necronomicon package from the beginning. Dr. Maleson is paling in contrast to the campaign-specific Veda and Research Librarian could be fetching Dream Diaries. True, the cost curve would've been a bit higher, but I could throw in a singleton of Astounding Research to compensate for that. Well... it's too late for now, we're just getting some minor upgrades including Shortcut II. This card is going to be mostly useless in this scenario, but it's nice to get for the finale.

The Depths of Yoth

Supplies: Binoculars, Blanket, Canteen, Chalk, Compass, Map, Medicine, Mysterious Specter, Rope

Pre-Mulligan Hand: Shortcut, True Understanding, Dream Diary, Eureka!, Crystalline Elder Sign, Inquiring Mind

Opening Hand: Dream Diary, Crystalline Elder Sign, Expedition Journal, Perception, "I've got a plan!", Jake Williams

Ursula begins the scenario during Agenda 2 at City of the Serpents.

Ohohoho. Two weaknesses rear their heads during round #1. It's OK, we can still play around them. For example, note that Ursula's weakness won't trigger if there aren't at least two locations in play. That is the reason I didn't get Ursula to explore during round #1, but it didn't make much difference in the end. Ursula is down to 2 sanity and has an alarming tendency for drawing Tentacles. Even that Elder Thing was an honorary Tentacle, because there was 4 vengeance in the victory display as it was drawn. Hopefully the encounter deck won't be too harsh on Ursula and she'll descent far enough to be able to fall with relative grace. Or we could ask Jake to be our sanity buffer, that works too.

Board State Reminder: 6 health, 2 sanity, 1 resources, 3 clues

In Play: Dream Diary, Crystalline Elder Sign, Expedition Journal

In Hand: "I've got a plan!", Jake Williams, Dark Pact, Inquiring Mind, Mind Over Matter, Manual Dexterity

Ursula deftly avoided doom on locations. We've landed on the high-clue location, but that's not too bad given that we'll need five clues for the final push. But, we'll need to deal with the pursuing snake at least once. Oh, and why did I play Jake so late? I blanked out for the moment and I was sure he was already on the table. A similar thing happens later when I forget to use his ability. Even so, aside from that low sanity, Ursula's doing fine. I we don't run into a string of Tentacle tokens, we should be able to reach depth 5 before the red-text section.

Board State Reminder: 4 health, 1 sanity, 1 resource, 0 clues

In Play: Dream Diary, Jake Williams, Crystalline Elder Sign (+1), Expedition Journal

In Hand: 2× "I've got a plan!", Inquiring Mind, Mind Over Matter, Manual Dexterity, True Understanding, Eureka!

Threat: Curse of Yig

Alas, we didn't! That Deep Dark came at the most inconvenient moment. I'm not too keen to see Call of the Unknown again, but we're involuntarily repeating the trick with not putting locations into play. Mind over Matter II earns it's place in the deck by passing the Crumbing Precipice test on Minus Five. In any case, Ursula needs just one more small push to finish the scenario. We've already found the Steps, just one more clue is all that's required.

Board State Reminder: 4 health, 1 sanity, 5 resources, 4 clues

In Play: Dream Diary, Jake Williams, Dr. William T. Maleson, Crystalline Elder Sign (+1), Expedition Journal

In Hand: 2× "I've got a plan!", Inquiring Mind, Perception, Shortcut, Crack the Case, Dream Diary

Threat: Curse of Yig, Call of the Unknown

Done! With two Minus Five tests passed. That feels good, but at the same time I cannot shake the rumors that the TTS randomizer is not sufficiently random. If all else fails I'll get back to playing with actual cards. Next time, the long-awaited finale!
