Prophesied a certain doom, he knows what he has to do on this last journey.

Expansions : The Path to Carcosa, Edge of the Earth.
I create decks using no more than 3 expansions for newcomers. See more here!

How to play

  • In the Thick of It giving enough XP to purchase Charon's Obol on the first scenario. The remaining XP goes to Cat Burglar. Choose 2 mental trauma so he is just 1 short to use the Desperate skill cards.
  • Prepare an another successor deck you want to play for real because he will be killed by Charon's Obol's effect in the 1st scenario. Game rule says you can replace him with a new 0 XP character in the next scenario, therefore getting killed in the 1st scenario nets you the least XP disadvantage for your next investigator. You can even make up a nice story for this new character!
  • Focus on evasion and investigation, especially using Cat Burglar that we use the remaining 1 XP for. Try to delay defeating the enemies until you get "I'll see you in hell!" or Dynamite Blast and make sure you die with them. You don't want to survive to the next scenario or your successor character would miss out more XP.
  • Other hurt cards exists to make sure you do not survive to the 2nd scenario : "Get behind me!", "Let me handle this!", Toe to Toe, On the Hunt. You will look so heroic while making easier time for everyone!
  • .32 Colt + .45 Automatic / Flashlight + Pocket Telescope / 21 or Bust + Emergency Cache / Hard Knocks + Physical Training pairs are similar cards that adds back consistency in Underworld Support condition.
  • On replays, you may know which 1st scenario that Pocket Telescope has an advantage. You may plan to have someone reveal the location ahead of Skids, and have Skids investigate remotely for action compression.
  • He will need Hard Knocks or Physical Training to make the .32 Colt or .45 Automatic 2 damages hit.
  • Try dying as late as possible because per-investigator clue count and difficulty stays the same after you are gone. (But there is 1 less player drawing Mythos.)
  • Underworld Support reduced deck size improves the chance of finding On the Lam, which should be used to collect enemies before killing yourself with "I'll see you in hell!", for the best cutscene. Also with less cards it makes tearing down this deck back to your collection faster.
  • Try Toe to Toe to get 1 more horror so you can use Desperate cards. These cards restore the redundancy of skill cards in Underworld Support constraints.
  • If you "accidentally" survives the 1st scenario and got the unintended Charon's Obol XP boost, you can instead spend that XP to play a standalone scenario and kill yourself there. This might also net your friends some special Asset cards.
  • It might also be handy if someone wish to join your ongoing campaign for only 1 session and drop off afterward. The Desperate skill cards and "I'll see you in hell!" can do some work even if joined mid campaign at 0 XP.
  • You can take Advanced On the Lam (Try make some plays with Dynamite Blast after using the disengage effect.) from the Parallel print-and-play for free and completely ignore Advanced Hospital Debts! Skip hospital straight to coffin.

Good idea for the investigator, bookmarked to play in the future. Maybe Innsmouth...

Cool, cool, cool. Theoretically, Lola Hayes with In the Thick of It, Charon's Obol, "Let God sort them out..." and Delve Too Deep could pass on total amount of additional 6 XP after her tragic death.
