This is pure theorycrafting for a future campaign whilst I’m playing a group through The Circle Undone.
This Daisy deck would be for a multiplayer campaign. It balances finding clues while also providing support for the other investigators. Given her weak this might not be ideal for the two agility-based campaigns (TFA & EotE) but should be fine for all the others.
Note that here Daisy doesn’t run Old Book of Lore! Instead she uses the free action only for Grim Memoir, in spite of the limited charges. This is the main concept of the deck: the Memoir lets Daisy’s free action obtain clues and blind draw (instead of just filtered card draw from OBoL).
At low xp she can play both copies (for the 8 charges) and also add secrets via Enraptured and Truth from Fiction. With later experience, Ariadne's Twine refills the secrets on Grim Memoir with the steady cash stream from Dr. Milan. If not needed on the memoir the secrets can refill the Scroll of Secrets
This deck features a broad toolbox for helping the investigators beyond just finding the clues:
-
scouting locations efficiently
-
pitch in against enemies (and not be a total liability) with a small suite of impactful events: Transmogrify, Mind over Matter, and Occult Invocation
If you prefer a version focused only on clue finding, replace some support cards above for Working a Hunch and additional skills.
Spending Experience
-
Pathfinder is too good to not immediately get
-
Scroll of Secrets is really important to get early. It grants free searches to help you get situational cards if you want that or core cards if you want that. It does what Old Book of Lore used to do, but is now supplemental rather than central. Also it often discards weaknesses.
-
Charisma prevents Dr. Milan from hogging the only ally slot, lets the Librarian offer health soak
-
Ariadne's Twine can replace Truth from Fiction as a steady source of secrets
-
Backpack replaces Fine Clothes to speed set up. It’s an unwritten rule that the important parley tests are early in every campaign: Midnight Masks, The House Always Wins, The Last King, Untamed Wilds, At Death’s Doorstep, Lost in the Night, etc
-
the upgraded Magnifying Glass helps juggle assets before you get her Tote Bag in play. And sometimes takes the sting out The Necronomicon
-
luxury upgrades to include might be Ancestral Knowledge for free early cards, which allows for a few more skills to be added and puts Burning the Midnight Oil back in. Also, the upgraded versions of Deduction and Ward of Protection are never bad!
Side note: if you own Read Or Die, feel free to use the advanced versions of Daisy’s signature cards. The tote bag speeds up playing the tomes, and sometimes they are played multiple times per scenario.
Please let me know any feedback if you try it out!
