Hi there! This is made public more so my game group in our current campaign can kind of see my thought process and analysis of my deck. I don't intend to really break any new ground when it comes to this investigator. I'm not very experienced in this game, which can explain some of my novice deck building choices and paths. Feel free to give any feedback though. I'm eager to learn :)

1.) Current deck analysis and strategy

Grotesque Statue Ritual Candles: The candles are a cheap asset to give you a small boost in skill checks. This might be better exchanged for Grotesque Statue eventually. It's a Hand asset, so it doesn't compete with any other assets at the moment unless you were to go with Spirit Athame. The statue better synchronizes with Akachi's ability giving it additional usefulness and utility. It could be great to have both!

Alchemical Transmutation /Forbidden Knowledge: If you don't already have your Spirit-Speaker out or Uncage the Soul available, this will be a good route to get resources. This might be better exchanged for Forbidden Knowledge when the chaos bag becomes more difficult. The latter also doesn't take an action, doesn't require a skill test (that can fail mind you), nor does it take up a slot for assets so it might be my go to in the late campaign. One benefit the transmutation has over knowledge is that transmutation makes use of charges, but I feel like those arcane slots should be utilized for your other spells. I have found use for it in that it can produce quick resources when coupled with Spirit-Speaker.

Clarity of Mind: Better for multiplayer and useful for Akachi's abilities. Could be exchanged for Fearless if playing solo or team is self-sufficient in dealing with horror management. One thing to consider is that Clarity of Mind takes more actions to recover Horror than Fearless would.

Rite of Seeking /Drawn to the Flame: Makes you a reliable clue retriever. The risk the former card contains makes the latter a good option to include in addition to this. Some of the new encounter cards in The Path of Carcosa makes it pretty scary though.

Shrivelling: Pretty much a staple card for all mystic classes. Also the illustrator was a past professor I had in college, so I gotta, you know?

St. Hubert's Key /Holy Rosary: It's a high resource cost for a small continuous benefit. Once I have my spells in hand, the intellect stat boost loses some value save for specific skill checks. I'm actually not quite sure why I chose the key over the rosary. Will switch out one for a rosary to see how that manages. I feel like the rosary is the better choice due to low resource cost and horror soak.

Arcane Initiate: Obviously good for getting your spells you need quicker. Scrying seemed like a good option too, but that would take up an arcane slot. Of course once you gather your spells through Scrying, you could just replace Scrying with them. However, then Scrying loses it's usefulness. At least the Initiate can soak up damage or horror.

Arcane Studies: Could help when in a bind for a check while not having the rest of your engine out in your play area yet. This could also make use of the excess resources you may have mid to late game.

Blinding Light: Just to have an Evade option. Probably not a good idea to upgrade this card as it does not contain any charges, and Fight is typically the better option in dealing with enemies, especially when you have Shriveling in play. Upgrade if you happen to have everything else already.

Delve Too Deep: Just so you can upgrade your deck faster. Once it's at a good spot, exchange this.

Hypnotic Gaze: A great Nope card for attacks that can also protect in multiplayer. The bonus of possibly dealing the enemy damage to itself is great too.

Uncage the Soul: Just plain amazing.

Unexpected Courage: Just in case, you know? The flexibility to get out of sticky situations for yourself as well as to assist your team. Possibly exchange this for Torrent of Power eventually or keep both to use the Courage early game and Torrent mid-late game.

Emergency Cache: Due to Uncage the Soul, Forbidden Knowledge, and Spirit-Speaker, I feel the this card is not as important to keep in the deck.

2.) Prospective additions:

Grotesque Statue: A better Ritual Candle in terms of purpose. Syncs better with Spirit-Speaker.

Blood Pact /Moonlight Ritual: While there is special timing that needs to be considered when using without having Moonlight Ritualreadily available, the buff is pretty significant since most of your checks will be made with willpower anyway. Using it when the agenda would advance anyway would make for a powerful turn that round (theoretically +3 for three actions is pretty great).

Fearless: Could be an option, but Clarity of Mind allows for better Multiplayer. Once other more important cards are finally added to the deck, maybe this can find its way in as well.

Torrent of Power: Would like to add this eventually! This would be a good replacement for Unexpected Courage. After having played one game with Akachi, the power this card brings is unmistakable.

Spirit Athame: A possibility as well! Only downside is that this is only useful for Spell skill checks. With Akachi's 3 combat stat, however, the improved fight action becomes a viable option for her when she doesn't have access to her fight spell yet.

Holy Rosary: Probably a better option than St. Hubert's Key.

3.) Prospective subtractions:

Ritual Candles St. Hubert's Key Arcane Studies Blinding Light Delve Too Deep Unexpected Courage
