During the setup we get to choose whether to side with the Lodge or the Coven. This should be a major turning point, but I feel that in most cases it isn’t. First, it’s hard to win this scenario solo without pre-planning your deck to handle the Circle 20 check, so working out which faction wins usually defaults to your decisions from the earlier scenarios. Second, siding with the Lodge or the Coven doesn’t impact the scenario. Compare that to the For the Greater Good where playing as member of the Lodge is somewhat different from infiltrating their headquarters. Either way, in-narrative there’s no way to oppose both so Leo decides that the Lodge is less dangerous and supports them. Oh, and it’s only at that point that I’ve noticed Sweeping Kick. I disregarded it earlier since it’s an Agility-related card, but it would’ve been an excellent tool to disable the Spectral Watcher without going through its entire health pool in the earlier scenarios as well.

I've got two low-shroud locations, but I’m not keen on investigating because the special tokens have substantial negatives in this scenario and I'm too tight on resources to sprinkle for Keen Eye. Not to mention Forsaken Woods can attract Whippoorwills and these are annoying. Hmmm… Actually, given that Whippoorwills are 1-health enemies, in this particular case I could use On the Hunt, then Scene of the Crime and then Daring to get lots of things done in short time. It’s not like I’m required to wait to be able to reliably defeat Nether Mist to play On the Hunt.

Board State Reminder: 6 health, 5 sanity, 3 resources, 1 clue

In Play: 2× Sled Dog (1 damage), Lone Wolf

In Hand: Mitch Brown, Daring, Scene of the Crime, Sled Dog, Venturer

That last Unstable Energies was inconvenient since it made it difficult for Leo to go for two Circle actions in the same round. Overall I’ve got a strong board position, but it’s a bit of a shame that I’m drawing all the clue-gathering events that I won’t have an opportunity to use in this scenario. Gavriella is going put in the hard work instead.

Board State Reminder: 6 health, 5 sanity, 1 resource, 1 clue

In Play: Gavriella Mizrah, Sled Dog, 2× Sled Dog (1 damage), Lone Wolf

In Hand: Mitch Brown, Daring, Intel Report, Scene of the Crime

I’ve just realized if Sweeping Kick was Roundhouse Kick we could pretend Leo Anderson was Chuck Norris. If only you could raise your leg a bit higher, Leo. On a more serious note, notice how many resource actions I’m taking during this scenario. Keen Eye is definitely not designed to be used to beat singular high-difficulty checks, but I’ve got nothing else. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll likely be able to progress to the last Act.

Board State Reminder: 6 health, 5 sanity, 2 resources, 1 clue

In Play: Gavriella Mizrah (3 damage), Sled Dog (1 damage), 2× Sled Dog (1 damage & 1 horror), Lone Wolf

In Hand: Mitch Brown, Intel Report, Scene of the Crime, Take the Initiative

Threat: Fate of All Fools

Honestly, I forgot the Watcher must be defeated after passing the final Circle test. I was even further away from winning Union and Disillusion that I thought I was. Well… the end result is the same. Carl Sanford claimed the powers of the universe and it’s going to Leo’s job to stop him. Or rather, it’s going to be a team effort. Granted, Mitch almost never sees play since he’s either Bought in Blood fodder or committed for his two wild icons, but Gavriella… I’d be glad to give some screentime for this gal. Her ability is exceedingly useful for non-evasive solo investigators such as Leo.
