DECK FOCUS

Skeleton Key

You will be the The Skeleton Key bearer. Instead of making skill tests, you'll be moving the key. Ideally you want to play with a seeker who can use Deduction and Archaic Glyphs to remove the clues quickly and easily.

Note: Lantern & Flashlight, cannot lower the difficulty below 1. To the same goes for, Obscuring Fog & Drawing Thin who cannot increase the difficulty of 1. So there is some potential abuse with drawing thin, but preston still has difficulty unless he also uses Well Connected to boost his stats. It should be noted it's also great with "Look what I found!" since you'll succeed or get 2 clues when you fail. Lowering the difficulty with skeleton key is mainly to help you allies.

Services & Favors

An Intel Report is the equivalent to 4 actions. Two to move & two to collect clues, not to mention you don't need to make skill checks (something Preston is not good at) nor the actions it takes to return to your current location. It's powerful action economy in exchange for resources. This is what preston is perfect for.

Like Intel Report, Small Favor is very powerful especially for enemies that spawn far away like Acolyte . Decoy has it's moments, but not nearly as strong as the others, and Dig Deep does roughly the same thing and is repeatable & more versatile.

Adaptable

Your job is to fill in the gaps of your team. I have a big section below on helpful cards depending on what you need to do.

Double, Double

This just makes things easier. It's not "Required" but once you double double an Intel Report, Small Favor, Hot Streak, Sneak Attack, or Emergency Cache turn after turn, you'll find not many cards can beat it.

MANAGING MONEY

Family Inheritance

Family Inheritance is a blessing & a curse. It provides a lot of cash but you will spend a lot of actions just pulling the resources off of it at the end of your turn. Each turn, you will either want to spend all 4 resources from it, or collect all 4 resources from it. So think of this as moving the key (and collecting) or playing events (and spending).

Leo De Luca

Leo De Luca gives you that 1 extra action to help you collect from Family Inheritance or place/pickup the key.

Hot Streak & Emergency Cache

Since Hot Streak and Emergency Cache both put resources on Family Inheritance, be sure to have an action remaining to collect. You get the most out these cards by playing multiples on the same turn.

Well Connected

Well connected is a power house. Towards the end of a game it can easily supply a +5-8 to a single skill check. With family inheritance and your upkeep, you increase it by +1 each round.

Fire Axe

Fire Axe rewards you when your resources are low. This contradicts the big money build, so think of this as a backup plan. Most of the time you'll be spending 3 resources to deal 1 damage. This is decent at the start of a campaign, but once you have xp swap this for better damage outputs like Sneak Attack, Lantern, and Flare. (Your team should help you out.)

Mulligan and Setup

These are the cards you want to keep, Muligan the rest.
